Posted by Jill: We bought our first house in the end of 2006, six months before we got married. It was a perfect, little Cape Cod on just under an acre. It didn't really need much work, but we immediately started making it "ours." We added raised flower beds, a paver patio, a nice sized vegetable garden, etc...and fell in love with being homeowners. That little house quickly became a home and we enjoyed every gathering we hosted there. But, it didn't take long for us to realize that we longed for more space -- more space inside and more space outside. Every time we came up with an improvement to do or something new to add, we were reminded that there just wasn't enough space for it all. So, it wasn't long before we outgrew that home and started looking for the next house. In the meantime, we added two small children and two big dogs to our family. We searched for places near and far, even making our realtor drive up to an hour away sometimes. Each time, the house just wasn't for us. We knew we wanted more space inside. We knew we wanted more space outside. But ultimately, we were picky. We were looking for our "forever home." Then driving home one night, I passed a house that we'd driven by every single day. It had been on the market for almost a year. When I got home, I asked Kyle, "Why haven't we looked at that house?" The next day we called our realtor and a few days later we took a look... It was perfect!!! It had more space inside and the house had great bones. It had plenty of space outside, and had been part of a larger farm (I have wanted a farm since I was 7 years old - but more on that another time). There was even a large barn out back that could easily become Kyle's woodshop. We went home and set to work, coming up with plans for how we could improve on the house and make it a home. As our realtor pointed out, "You guys look at a house and immediately look for the potential to make it what you want. It doesn't have to already BE exactly what you want." And she was right. We love a challenge! It took some time and some negotiating...and there were a few hiccups along the way. But at the end of June 2017, ten and a half years after we bought our little starter home...Bell Hollow Farm was born! Welcome Home.
